A Happy New Year to you all, my friends. I said that last week, but I’ll say it again in case you missed it.
Now, I’ll shut up about the new year.
If you’re reading this, chances are you are doing so for a REASON.
My company is all about helping people start or grow their own businesses, and given the restrictions that have been imposed on us, I know a lot of folks are considering their future options.
If you’re wondering if you should branch out on your own, be your own boss, lose the commute, etc., you have definitely come to the right place.
Whatever your goals are, the one thing that is independent of Covid measures is the internet.
What does it take to make a decent amount of money online? I’ll give you a thumbnail sketch, but you’ll have to do some work.
First, you need to choose a niche. Might be something you are already skilled at, but it doesn’t have to be. The key point is it needs to be something a lot of people are interested in.
Home baking, fly fishing, golf, classic cars … take your pick.
Then you build an audience of people who share that common interest. This is where you have to put the effort in, but it’s worth it.
I recommend LinkedIn – it’s a powerful platform that allows you to search for people in your chosen niche.
If you follow my business model, the next thing you need is a product supplier – someone who makes things your audience will be interested in.
There are thousands of them out there, all looking for new customers. If you can bring a few thousand people to the table, you can cut a good deal on the commission.
I get 80%, by the way.
Then comes the easy bit. You need a shop window for the products you are offering. The obvious answer is a decent website.
If you don’t have the skills yourself, get it done professionally. It’s not very expensive – and in fact my company has two WordPress courses (Beginner and Advanced) you might be interested in. Could save you a bit if you’re willing to learn.
That’s it in a nutshell.
Niche – hungry crowd with a shared interest – supplier – website.
Invite your audience to your website, and sit back and collect your commissions as they buy.
It’s a point I try to get over as often as I can – the difference between trading your time for money and making money while you sleep.
